The ETA that the buyer was shown is today. I can see from the tracking that it never even got scanned as being picked up from the parcel shop, I have checked with the parcel shop and they say the delivery company took it. It should have been delivered 2 days ago if there was no delay from the delivery company. The delivery company says it is likely lost. How should I handle this? Should I contact the buyer? I used an Etsy label. I will be going on a trip in a few days which would make sending a replacement harder. I know the item is for a gift but I don't know when they need it by.

I bought the Lian Li O11 Vision Compact from Overclockers UK a couple days ago, and upon seeing the company that was delivering it, my heart sunk. No disrespect if anyone here works for DPD, but the company is notorious for having dodgy drivers + questionable service. I received a text yesterday from DPD saying my parcel was to be delivered between X time and Y time, no problem, except no one was home. Thankfully, they give you the option to describe a safe place outside your house for them to leave it, so I did. They keep sending attempted delivery texts but i was home all time today and yesterday. They also never left ‘we missed you card’ or any instructions. Then when i check it’s returned to the sorting facility. How am i supposed to get my order? They don’t even leave it at the post office to have the choice to pick it up. I called inpost whose automated system told me there was an issue with the destination address which had been resolved, and contacted Vinted who told me I just have to wait. But I’ve had an email from inpost claiming they’ve contacted the courier, but obviously have had no follow up and I’m getting frustrated. So the UPS attempted delivery today, and I wasn't home, so they just left a note and said they'll reattempt delivery tomorrow. I rang the customer service asking how I was supposed to be at home waiting for them when they never lmk it's out for delivery or the delivery time window. The response I got was there's no signature required for this parcel(yeah so why don't you just left it at the front door?) and they have to attempt the first delivery first before I can request them to leave it at the front door.
