Latest Community Discussions About YRCLTL Reweighs40d agoI see a lot of re-weighs over a decade of being in freight both from working for the carrier and a 3PL. Tips- Do not rely on a packing slip and estimate the weight, put the freight on a scale and take a picture. There is not much you can do to fight it if there is not a certified scale. If you think your weight might be a little higher, factor that into your cost ie- you didn’t weigh the shipment. Always check dims, with density you run the risk of a reclass and a re weigh which no one likes. At my time with YRC, we had W&I reps that had quotas to hit and upcharge. All carriers do this. If you cannot prove your weight , it is hard to dispute. Look at it this way- you go to UPS and ... Potentially starting a trucking career105d agoHi all, I am thinking about getting in CDLA and going into linehaul. I do not have a single certification but this is something that I have thought about quite a bit and would like to pursue. Overall, I would like to do LTL/Linehaul. Overnight work is something I absolutely want to do (always have been a night owl). My goal is to hit 100k/yr. I am based out of Northwest Arkansas. Around us we have the following. * Estes Express * SAIA LTL * Averitt * Old Dominion * ABF * XPO * Fedex * R+L Carriers * YRC Freight * Fedex Freight * UPS I have a few questions. * Which of these companies would you apply for and why? * Any to avoid? * How do these CDL training programs normally work? I would ... Escape from the big companies moving LTL in the US.404d agoHi y'all. I'm a canadian self employed broker working with a canadian company who has asked me to find a way to improve how they move their interstate freight. They have been using Estes, Saia, YRC (RIP?) etc and they **** them all. In canada i'm used to being able post a few skids on our all encompassing load board and match with line haul ltl guys posting for the same. I bought into an american load board (kind of - the canadian board's front end for DAT) and all I see are full load carriers. I've poked around a free board and it was kind of the same. So my questions are how do long haul ltl carriers find freight in the states? Or do they not exist? Is thei... YRC just sent an invoice from 2022 to a customer that I paid the freight for.643d agoI shipped a crate to a customer and paid the ($227) directly to YRC. Delivery was normal- customer had forklift as specified and there was no delay or unusual event at delivery. Weight and dimensions were not adjusted. This January 2024 the customer received an invoice of $227 for the delivery. I have a $227 payment to YRC on my company visa in the correct date range, I can't find any other documentation. This is a small University I shipped to, and obviously they are thinking I didn't pay the shipping cost as was expected. What is YRC doing - as they are out of business? ($YELLQ) Tomorrow begins Yellow Corp's leased properties sale auction!686d agoThere are 145+ locations up for grabs, in which the company has sublet rights...many of which are prime properties located in major hubs & population centers spread throughout the United States and Canada. In years past, Yellow (YRC Worldwide) owned nearly all of them. Given that LTL shipping doors are selling for well north of $200K/ea in good locations, the company should easily reap $550-$700 Million in additional profits after selling these long-term lease rights. (The combined actual property valuations are worth 3-4 times that amount - but it's not applicable since the debtor no longer owns the real estate.) \*\*The big wildcard in this Ch 11 multi-... Rory's greatest challenge746d agoFreight LTL Options?811d agoCurious what freight companies anyone recommends ? I was using YRC/Yellow a lot but now that they’ve gone under all the competitors so far are hundreds more than I’ve been spending… 200 Birmingham workers lose jobs in Yellow Corp. shutdown; 3 other Alabama locations close817d agoTwo hundred Birmingham workers are left jobless in the wake of trucking company Yellow Corporation’s abrupt shutdown across the United States. In late July, the 99-year-old Nashville-based company (NASDAQ: YELL) closed its facilities, including the Birmingham site near Tarrant, laying off 30,000 workers across the country. The nearly 100-year-old company blamed the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a Washington, D.C.-based labor union, for driving it out of business. A sign at Yellow’s facility on Industrial Parkway was taped to an orange traffic cone: “Dear Valued Customers and Employees: All company operations have ceased as of Sunday July 30, 2023, at 12:00pm EDT. Anyone have an idea how to recover freight from the end point warehouse? Instant Freight Quotes818d agoInstant Freight Quotes I've been using YRC for my LTL shipping. Since they're going out of business I've been looking at other options. The only one that I've found that will give me an instant quote is [TruckQuote.com](https://TruckQuote.com). All the others want me to create accounts and/or I have to wait for a real person to figure it out. Does anyone know of any freight quoting websites other than YRC and TruckQuote that has an immediate/instant quoting feature without creating an account? Not parcel shippers either. UPS, Fedex, USPS, ect. are too expensive for my LTL stuff. How to ship freight auto parts?818d agoI used to ship freight via YRC but they went out of business, I see eBay sellers that ship freight and charge only $150 for shipping, how is that possible? YRC used to be around that price but those days are gone Still have a few of these loads trickling in to Alaska. Was 25% of our business. . .822d agoContent Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
