Its musical instruments mostly, so its all shapes & sizes. Might be 20 tubas, big 9 foot truss rods, pricy mixing consoles, 3000 ukuleles, 45" disco ball. Using a SAIA calculator lately to determine the NMFC class of each pallet, density based on dims & weight. Noticed lately that just using skids that are a few inches longer can change the class from 125 to 175. Can anyone tell me if that represents a significant price difference on how much the carrier charges per pallet? SAIA INC Quarterly Report Released - Here’s What You Should Know33d ago**Saia, Inc. Need a Good Job?34d agoI was a truck driver for 20 years. I was local 90% of the time. You can drive LTL Saia, R&L, AAA Cooper and Old Dominion. These jobs pay very well. But, they do random drug tests. You might have to start with a different company to get Experience but you can do it. I did. Started on a Beer Truck and then went LTL. Good luck. SAIA LTL Freight caught with their pants down on the highway.35d agoFraudulent LTL Overcharges --- an industry norm?42d agoHey all. I've been using a large (?) freight broker for LTL, maybe 40 loads over the last two years. I have noted that I get a lot of "rebills" or charges after the fact. Having to pay MORE money after the fact because a pallet weighed LESS than my estimate was eye-opening, but since learning about MNFC codes and that Class 77.5 costs less money to ship than Class 110, despite being heavier for the same volume.... well anyhow.   The **most common re-bill for me is liftgate charges**. The thing is, the most common pallet I ship is 90" x 64" x 32 tall, 2500# Sometimes they are taller/heavier, with other things stacked on top, but i keep them und... We specialize in **LTL (less-than-truckload) and full truckload shipping** across the US and Canada. We’re partnered with a major 3PL, which gives us access to aggressive contracts with every national carrier (FedEx, UPS Freight, Estes, R&L, Saia, etc.). That means we can usually beat standard rates while still giving you the kind of hands-on, small-business service that bigger brokerages can’t match. If you or someone you know ships regularly — whether it’s manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce, or household goods — I’d be happy to run a free comparison quote. Worst case, you learn what th... Southeastern vs Saia103d agoDoes anyone have experience with both SE and Saia LTL? These two are local to me in South Georgia, but I don’t know which is a better company. Which is better for pay, for work/life balance, and to stay at for a career? I have almost 2 years experience in foodservice, dbl/triple, haz/tanker, no restrictions, and clean record. I do not have a single certification but this is something that I have thought about quite a bit and would like to pursue. Overall, I would like to do LTL/Linehaul. Overnight work is something I absolutely want to do (always have been a night owl). My goal is to hit 100k/yr. I am based out of Northwest Arkansas. Around us we have the following. * Estes Express * SAIA LTL * Averitt * Old Dominion * ABF * XPO * Fedex * R+L Carriers * YRC Freight * Fedex Freight * UPS I have a few questions. * Which of these companies would you apply for and why? * Any to avoid? * How do these CDL training programs normally work?
