Latest Community Discussions About NM FreightLocal neighbor starting a small shipping business10h agoI come from a logistics background and I’ve a woodworker for 10+ years. After a recent layoff, I started a small shipping business focused on helping local makers and small sellers all the way to bigger businesses. I work with UPS, FedEx, and DHL for parcel shipments, and I also handle LTL and FTL freight through a whole bunch of carriers for larger items. If you’re shipping 10+ items a month, I can usually help with: • Wholesale shipping pricing • Choosing the right carrier/service level • Handling tracking issues, delays, and carrier communication • Being a single point of contact (no call centers) Not trying to sell anyone who doesn’t need it—just offering help to ... The wiggly ducks11h agoHow much does a triple trailer driver make ? Like im sitting here at fedex waiting for my trailer to be loaded and seen this fellow trucker couple three trailers and it’s just too much physical labor for what pay difference ? \+ how hard is it to drive these ? Cuz im actually planning in the near future to move into SLC , UT and find me such LTL gig to drive triples Best route to get cheap LTL rates?11h agoEdit: Please for the love of god read the post before commenting. I do actually understand the concept of taxes and tariffs. I’m not going to lose my life savings over an $800 shipment. —————- I’m about to start shipping some outdoor equipment (steel truck campers, rooftop tents etc) from China and resell them in the US. Dims are a little longer than a standard pallet and 500ish lbs per shipment. Super low volume, like 1 every couple months. I’m wondering if the best way to get the cheapest LTL rates is directly through LTL carriers or will brokers like P1 and Global Tranz be cheaper with their wholesale prices + margin? Supplier is doing ocean to their warehouse in LA. My... The best moving companies for heavy equipment: Who actually shows up with the right gear21h agoIf you’re planning a heavy-equipment move, there’s usually a moment when it sinks in that this isn’t a standard relocation. Couches and boxes are one thing. Industrial machinery, construction equipment, or commercial-grade gear? That’s another thing altogether. Between weight limits, permits, specialized trailers, and rigging requirements, heavy-equipment moves tend to involve more planning and more risk than people expect going in. So here’s a breakdown of moving companies that are commonly used for heavy machinery and specialized equipment, along with what they’re best suited for. The goal isn’t to crown a single “best” option, but to help you narrow down which type ... Be better not bitter1d agoA lot of these older guys complain because it’s not the good ol days. But they didn’t changes with the times. They thought it was going to be great forever. Didn’t prepare. Now they’re trying to discourage the next generation from Trucking. To me LTL is the BEST route to go for rookies, or even veterans honestly. If you’re spending weeks on the road & aren’t grossing 100k then what’s the point? You’re away from your family making peanuts. It’s not worth it. Almost all the LTL linehaul positions make 100k+. Most local city LTL drivers are making $32+ & don’t have to sleep at truck stops. LTLs also have dock to driver programs & they’ll pay for you... How do I escalate my missing Passport/Visa to higher management.2d agoI need to find out how to escalate the mishandling of my passport/US visa that I sent for Stamping on November 20. There's been no update on tracking, and the lost and found department told me to file a claim, but the claims department says I can't without an invoice for the items in the shipment. I'm stuck in this country with no help from Purolator. How do I get this to higher management? [3 YoE, Unemployed, Operations Manager/Logistics, United States]6d agoCompany recently got bought out and became a "Direct-to-stores" model. Have always stuck with Manufacturing/Warehouse/Logistics jobs and am looking to see what can be improved. Thanks in advance! Resume feedback7d agoHi All, I am having difficulty getting calls back on mt applications. I have changed my resume based on some AI feedback, if any managers out there have a minute to review the new version, I would appreciate it very much. If the picture does not work, I can try to upload a PDF. Thanks in advance. https://preview.redd.it/ovzrldgomn6g1.png?width=724&format=png&auto=webp&s=4642f151e383dd0c007e7f280bccf615a28cc1d6 Logistics work from home9d agoFor people who have years of experience in this industry. I want your insights on this roles pros and cons, best role to take, experience with roles, and adviced. Do you actually like driving?9d agoI’m a newer driver, I pedal freight for an LTL. My company paid me while I was in CDL school and also paid for all the fees and endorsements at the DMV. I’m home every night and I normally work between 8-10 hours a day. I also make decent money. BUT I DONT LIKE IT. I wake up everyday thinking **** this **** I don’t wanna do it. Does it get any better? When did driving become enjoyable? Freight Forwarders11d agoHow do you find reliable freight forwarding services? I've done LTL multi pallet before, but I'm looking to gather smaller orders from multiple vendors and consolidate for better rates. McKinsey Expert Network11d agoI’ve recently heard about McKinsey’s internal expert network, the group they tap for specialized advisory work, diligence support, and sector-specific problem solving outside of sources like GuidePoint, GLG, AlphaSights, etc. From what I understand, this is separate from their full-time consulting track and is more focused on deep subject-matter experts. However… I cannot find any public information about how to submit a background, express interest, or even confirm the formal name of the program. I’ve checked the careers site, general recruiting channels, and LinkedIn, and I’m not seeing a clear path for external experts to get connected. For context, my background is in North A... A Complete Guide to Using FedEx Freight in Your WooCommerce Store17d agohttps://preview.redd.it/0pcmcp1tjp4g1.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=da627756aeb782015a4c0e2f9b54a31b743c68b2 Shipping oversized, heavy, or palletised products in WooCommerce can quickly become complicated. [FedEx](https://www.pluginhive.com/fedex-shipping/) Freight involves strict pallet rules, dimensional billing, freight classes, accessorial surcharges, and multiple service options. For many WooCommerce stores selling furniture, gym equipment, appliances, industrial supplies, or bulk shipments, managing these requirements manually leads to errors, unexpected surcharges, and customer dissatisfaction. This guide highlights how the plugin simplifies [FedEx Fr... Is this job some bullshit or what?20d agoThis isn’t a “horror story”, this isn’t “me whining” (or maybe it is), but either way I’m not trying to act like i’m a victim, just to share my experience. I’ve been OTR for a guy who owns the truck, random load board freight, mostly reefer. I'm paid 25% of the load and get photos of the rate cons. I’m 1099 and no benefits. I was just in a truck for 5 weeks, and had two 34 hr resets at home during that time. Most of the loads he booked required a lot of running on PC during my 34 or after maxing out my 11 in order to get it there on time. But had two actual resets at home. He doesn’t explicitly say “you gotta break Hours of service rules” but the appointment ... How do people ship a small camper trailer (about the size of a large box) to the US/Canada?21d agoHi all — quick question from someone outside North America. I have a small camper trailer (folding/teardrop style) — roughly the footprint and volume of a large cardboard box rather than a full-sized RV — and I’m exploring options to send one to the US or Canada. If you’ve shipped something similar (small trailer, gear-packed box, folding teardrop, or palletized camping unit), could you share: * Which shipping method you used (parcel carrier, LTL freight, pallet + LTL, or something else)? * Any recommended carriers or brokers for door-to-door vs port-to-port? * Typical transit times and ballpark cost ranges (for something \~size\_of\_large\_box / weight \~\[if you know, add wei...
