Latest Community Discussions About NM FreightSaia upgraded by Wolfe Research1h agoDo LTL carriers get upset when brokers don’t share the shippers contact info19h agoI’m a broker who does a lot of LTL and these are a few things I’ve noticed. If I put my own phone number they don’t show up for pick up for so many days that I have to cancel. If I put my number on the receivers end they will google the address find the phone number of the business located there and call them directly. And if the most recent thing that happen is a brought my customers freight to my cross dock to send it as a partial I had 2 deliveries on this piece but my other piece got canceled so I just used the LTL carrier I always use for these particular loads but I did 2 different shipments. They picked up the first one and they haven’t picked up the other since Wednesday.... LTL vs FTL - which actually ends up cheaper in real-world shipping?22h agoI’ve been digging into freight costs lately and realized a lot of businesses pick the wrong mode between LTL and FTL. In some cases, people are paying for full trucks when LTL would cost way less. In others, they’re forcing bigger loads into LTL and getting hit with delays, reclass fees, or damage issues. I broke down a detailed comparison with real scenarios (cost, transit time, when each makes sense). Sharing here in case it helps anyone Curious how you guys decide, do you go purely by cost or factor in transit time and handling risk too? Details: \- Chino, CA → Houston, TX (77433) \- \~6,400 lbs \- 20 pallets (48x40x70) \- Non-hazmat I’ve gotten some quotes already but want to make sure I’m going the right route. Would you recommend going direct with carriers like TForce/FedEx Freight, or using a broker for something like this? Also, what would be a reasonable price range and transit time for this lane? Appreciate any guidance 🙏 What is an LTL Shipping Company—and why you should look into it for your next move3d ago# Most people don’t even realize this is an option… Instead of renting a truck and driving it yourself, companies like ABF Freight, Old Dominion Freight Line, and Estes Express Lines will drop off a **semi-trailer**, let you load it (or hire movers), and then charge you **only for the space you use**. Sounds like a cheat code, right? It kind of is—but only if you know what you’re doing. Here’s what most people don’t tell you: * You get **WAY more space** than a standard rental truck (especially height-wise… this matters more than you think) * Delivery windows can be **unpredictable** (sometimes hours late… sometimes worse) * You’re 100% responsible for **how well your l... Looking to do LTL freight move (Eagle River to E. MT)4d agoI am probably going to take less than 500 lbs of stuff. I intend to pack and palletize it myself then wrap it. Is there a service who can come load the pallet at my current residence for me and then transport it to my destination in the lower 48? I can do most of the stuff myself, I just don’t know the best way to get it shipped from there. Any advice is appreciated! \*\*\*God those days were awesome when the military showed up and did all this **** for me and all it cost were 35% of my stuff got broken, but it was free! Here’s what we’ve seen (and how to fix it)5d agoWe’ve been working closely with LTL shipments across the U.S., and one thing we keep seeing over and over again is this: Shipments getting delayed at terminals with no clear reason or Freight arriving damaged even when it left in perfect condition Most people assume it’s just “bad luck” or carrier issues, but honestly, a lot of it comes down to a few common mistakes like: * Incorrect freight class or dimensions * Poor pallet stability and packaging * Missed delivery requirements (liftgate, limited access, etc.) * Terminal congestion during peak seasons We recently put together a detailed breakdown covering: * Why LTL delays actually happen * The real causes of freight damage...
