Bought a house last year with one bedroom in the basement that I use as an office. It’s humid and musty in there and I think adding a return vent will help a lot. The room shares a wall with an existing return duct in it. My main question is do I put the vent closer to the ceiling or the floor to remove the most humid air in the summer, conventional wisdom says closer to the ceiling because hot air rises but I’m assuming that might just **** out the cold air coming from the delivery vent. Second question is, despite the basement being very cool even in the summer should I be running AC into the room to help with the humidity?

One issue we see come up a lot with diesel heaters is users saying the fan is running normally… but the air never really gets hot. What’s interesting is the cause is rarely the same from one setup to another. Sometimes it ends up being: * fuel delivery issues * airflow restrictions * low voltage during startup * carbon buildup over time * or even something simple in the install itself From the manufacturer side, “blowing cold air” is one of those symptoms that can come from a lot of smaller things instead of one major failure. When I was getting picks before the reset the other night, I got a hair dryer with 5 attachments. I normally take a sec to do research, but I snapped it up this time.
