I made a post a few days ago regarding the huge brokerage fee that a buyer had to pay in the US to UPS. If I understood well, the brokerage fee is only paid by private companies through their own broker which is why I should wait until Japan Post resumes sending parcels to the US as they are using USPS which is government-owned company and thus don't have to pay such fees. I have a bank account in japan post bank and recently learn that its cheaper to send money using Yucho passbook app which also required registration in Yucho direct app. I registered to both the apps but I am not able to transfer money. Hello, I'm a beginner seller from Japan and I've encountered an issue sending to the US. Because of the tariffs, Japan Post stopped sending parcels other than gifts < $100 to the US so I had to find alternatives and the best one I found was Yamato Japan. I have to pay $23 per parcel but at least I can still send to the US. So I declared on the customs paper the value of the item I sold, which was $45. But the buyer has been charged by UPS $41.75 which seems to be brokerage fee but it seems too outrageous considering the original price of the item.
