I have a client looking to have a “signature” smoke flavour. They have heard Rambutan (Nephilium lappaceum) provides a nice smoke, but I want to double check if anyone has any experience. The fruit is ok tasting, but the wood, leaves and seeds contain saponin. The tree is also considered to be an “evergreen”, and some rules of thumb suggest caution smoking with evergreens. Any practical experiences using this wood are greatly appreciated

Greetings fellow gardeners, Im trying to decide what to plant underneath this lovely olive tree. Ive had Lavender there which ive replaced 2-3 times over the last 6 years, you can see what happens to them in the picture. Its shaded for most of the day so I dont think its the ideal plant for this area. I was thinking about African daisy bushes (picture 3) but worried they will get too high and have the same issue with sunlight. Do you have any other ideas?

There are a bunch of these growing near my patio in Massachusetts, USA. This is the south side of the building, so the area gets lots of sunlight during the day and especially early in the morning. I’m in an apartment complex, so there is quite a lot of foot traffic in the central courtyard. I saw several clusters around a little garden, which contains some small evergreen trees, and along the side of my building.
