Latest Community Discussions About ECHOWednesday's Challenging Question18h agoAs promised, today's confrontational, challenging or just plain weird question... While you can control bad habits with a spreadsheet and a budget, a fully-developed addiction is *internal*, and it's *subconscious*. That's why you can't control it with willpower. For most people, most of the time, a question like this is a shot in the dark. It will probably miss. But if it hits *you*? You'll know. You might feel annoyed, defensive, laugh, cry, downvote, whatever. Just sit with it. Let it echo over the next 24-72 hours. So, today's question: **“Do you find you enjoy waiting for the parcel more than getting it?”** Normally I leave you to sit with the q... Three distinct sets of claws against stone, spreading out to flank him. Caleb's perception faltered, the beam flickering like a dying candle. His shattered right ar... Found my 7th birthday gift from my cutu Dad today peepul.🤍✨✨3d agohttps://preview.redd.it/cklwwfv4790g1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc6eadb7ed596782819f874e2dd3cfe719583411 I found these today buried deep inside a forgotten cover while organising the old bookshelf, the one that’s more memory than furniture at this point. When I opened it and saw what was inside, I actually squealed. It’s strange how something as simple as a few weathered pages can transport you back in time so completely that you forget where you are. And there I was again, 7 years old, standing in the doorway, watching it all unfold like a film I already knew the ending to. I could almost see myself, a tiny girl in a purple frilly frock with ... They Always Think They're Smarter: The Bimini Corer (Part 1: To Bimini)5d agoOf the many cases Me and Zadok have endeavored, the ones I find most disturbing are the ones involving children. I haven’t handled many, by way of most child abusers and killers not being nearly as smart as they think; not nearly perfect enough crimes to require agencies request my intervention, but of the ones I have, one stands a wholly different league then the rest. \*\*\* The house had still been rather new to me, Zadok had not. Ever since our first adventure together we’d taken to each other more than I thought we ever would, a bond strong enough I questioned whether or not it had always been there in the blind, esoteric way brothers separated at birth take to each other up... Before the Frost - a Village in distress7d agoBefore the Frost The stars still clung to the sky like frost on stone, pale and stubborn against the slow creep of dawn. Kael opened his eyes to a silence so complete it felt sacred. The cold had seeped through the woven reeds of their shelter during the night, curling around his limbs like a patient predator. Each breath he exhaled rose in soft plumes, ghostly and fleeting, vanishing into the dim air as if reluctant to linger. Beside him, Nara shifted beneath her fur wrap, her movements deliberate, honed by years of waking before the world stirred. Her hand found the flint-tipped spear without searching, fingers closing around it with the ease of ritual. The weapon was more than wood and ... Seems likely staff/security took/trashed our stuff (Lost and found 0 help)8d agoSaturday night we left to see the other stages before parcels finished. We had no idea the meadow would be cleared out and blocked off once Parcels ended. So, in good spirits and general PLUR feeling (and after a few drinks) we left a couple blankets, a couple coochie couches, some snacks, a pope costume, and some LED fans at our spot on the hill in the meadow to explore and come back. When we tried to get back in, security said no one could get back into the meadow and assured us that the staff were gathering up the belongings left behind for lost and found. Well, we waited through Sunday and no luck, waited through Monday and no luck. Now it would be one thing if the fans didn’t show up ... The Paynter Principle: How a $13.5 Million Public Investment in a Tustin Developer's Central Valley Empire, Backed ...9d agoThis additional information reveals a pattern of behavior by David Paynter and his companies that extends far beyond Porterville, involving aggressive expansion, political influence, and several transactions that raise serious ethical and legal questions. Here is a comprehensive analysis of Part 2, focusing on the illegal, unethical, and strange elements connected to Paynter Realty & Investments. # Part 2 Analysis: The Paynter Playbook – A Pattern of Aggressive Expansion and Ethical Lapses The collected stories and data reveal that the concerning relationship between the City of Porterville and David Paynter is not an isolated incident. It is part of a broader, repeatable strate... Castenada (Part 30)11d agoI had lived in the mountains for four years with only cedar planks and nails between me and the wind. A man comes to know the groaning of the wood and the whistling through the cracks. So when, early in the morning of October thirty-first, a storm was tearing up Jake outside, I paid it little mind. Foul night, sure, but I had seen worse. A crack in the wall doesn’t mean death. It means you fetch the hammer. Repairs are as regular as pissing. Still, it capped an uglier day. The night before, my bad knee kept me from sleeping. When I finally managed to, it took me headfirst, straight into the trough of my dreams, and I stayed under till I drowned in nightmares. I came up at noon soaked in sw... CUPW: CUPW Defends the Public Post Office During OGGO Committee Meeting15d agoTuesday October 28 2025 2023-2027/352 No. 159 On Tuesday, October 28, CUPW participated in the second day of hearings of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates (OGGO) into the situation at Canada Post. During our presentation, we explained how Minister Lightbound’s announcement of sweeping changes to Canada Post last month will gut the public post office, eliminate thousands of good, unionized jobs, and cause real hardship in communities across the country, and highlighted how none of these things need to happen to return the Corporation to sustainability. In fact, most of the announced cuts will only drive more customers away. Cuts Not the Answer ... Read my story and tell me what you think ;)15d agoLONDON'S BIGGEST CONSPIRACY THEORY! By: Gabriella author for The Dark Minster Times Volume 12, October, 1442 That's right folks. I said it! Wait until you hear this story. Sitting in my living room, with the furnace burning, a woodsy smell filling the already musky air, I was comfortably watching the rain pour down my stained glass windows. As I sipped my tea a late night knock at the door jolted me causing tea to spill on my satin couch. In the midst of all this boisterous thunder I thought to myself “who could be here at this hour?” Setting my tea down, I peered out the tiny fogged window and saw a black box with gold labeling sitting on my porch s... My Mafia Husband's Hidden Mistress15d agoI'm Gracie Sullivan, Sebastian Roscente's wife. Everyone says I'm the woman of a mafia boss. After marriage, he treated me like a precious gem. Media outlets competed to cover our love story. I thought he adored me to the core. I couldn't wait to flaunt this happiness to the world. Until I accidentally overheard his conversation with his right-hand man. "My empire spans both legal and illegal businesses—enemies are everywhere." "If Gracie doesn't act as the human shield, how can Amelia stay safe?" So every knife I took for him, every wound I suffered—all of it was a carefully crafted lie. Fine.... If the Third Singapore Mosque Attacks Plot actually happened17d agoIf the Third Singapore Mosque Attacks Plot actually happened (Alternate Universe) Going to name the youth as Ryan Lim since his real name wasn’t revealed in reality due to his age at the time of the incident. If Ryan managed to succeed his plans then the Wikipedia article would have looked something like this, Ryan Lim Ryan Lim (2008 - 15 March 2025) was a Singaporean East Asian Supremacist of Chinese descent who perpetrated the 2025 Singapore Mosque Attacks on the sixth anniversary of the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks in New Zealand. He was motivated by Islamophobia and believed that East Asians were superior to Muslims. Background Lim became radicalized in 2022 after reading abo... CUPW: Minister Lightbound Parrots Canada Post’s Agenda at OGGO Committee19d agoFriday October 24 2025 2023-2027/350 No. 157 On Thursday, October 23, the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates (OGGO) held its first hearing to examine the situation at Canada Post. Joël Lightbound, the Minister responsible for Canada Post presented first and reiterated that the only way to save Canada Post is to implement drastic service cuts. The Minister continued to relay Canada Post’s messaging to justify the Government’s plans to gut the public post office. CUPW is furious that the Minister excluded the information that we provided to him and his office during our meetings over the last two weeks that supported other ways for Canada Post to grow and be... Union's response to the OGGO19d agoMy mother got me into a monster fight club. [Part 6]19d ago“Are you two hungry?” Mom asked. “I had an early breakfast, so yeah, I could eat now,” Hana admitted. “Same,” I added. “But are there even restaurants open on Sunday?” “I know a place,” Mom nodded. A few streets later, she pulled into the parking lot of an Italian restaurant called Lotta Alimentare. “Just a minute,” she said, typing a quick text. A few seconds later, her phone pinged with a reply. “Okay, they’ll let us in.” We got out of the car and waited at the front door. The restaurant looked completely empty, and the sign clearly said Closed. Then, the “Employees Only” door opened, and out came a man who looked like someone had tried t... Singer's Peak19d agoMy dad recently died. I’d love to tell you it felt foreign. But a quarter along the journey of my life, I find myself in the dark again. Just the glow of the TV on the carpet, the smell of mildew in the vents. When I got the news, I wasn’t even sure what I felt. Not grief. Not a shock. Just... fog. A kind of static in the bloodstream. We hadn’t really talked in the past year. And when we did, it was polite. Surface-level. Check-ins from two people who once knew how to *be* with each other. There was a time when we’d talk for hours. Science. Music. Politics. Movies. Pseudo-intellectual rambling, strung together from headlines and half-read essays. We treated every conversation like ... The boy who ran and the girl - chapter 422d agoThey didn’t speak the same language, not at first. But they understood each other in the way people do when survival strips away everything but gesture and need. A glance toward the sky meant weather. A tap on the wrist meant hunger. A hand pressed to the earth meant rest. They moved through the days like two halves of a broken tool. They were awkward at first, but slowly learned how to fit. As the cold crept closer, they gathered supplies together: bark, twigs and wood for fire, roots for broth, stones for warmth. She showed him how to find the kind of moss that stayed dry even after snow. He taught her how to split bone for marrow without wasting the blade. They didn’t speak much duri...
