An Post is the state-owned provider of postal services in the Republic of Ireland. An Post provides a "universal postal service" to all parts of the country as a member of the Universal Postal Union. Services provided include letter post, parcel service, deposit accounts, Express Post (an all-Ireland next-day delivery service), and EMS (international express-mail service). An Post, the Irish postal administration, came into being in 1984 when, under the terms of the Postal & Telecommunications Services Act of 1983, the Post Office services of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (P&T) were divided between An Post and Telecom Éireann, the telecommunications operator now called Eir. At its inception, during the early years of the Irish Free State, the Department of Posts and Telegraphs was the country's largest department of state, and its employees (most of them postmen) constituted the largest sector of the civil service.

I got notice of customs charges on a parcel from the UK even though the shipper has IOSS. I emailed the shipper and they sent me on all the references, rang An Post to explain. They confirmed i shouldn't have been charged, but still can't get the parcel until I pay €20 charges. I either have to reject the charges and get the parcel returned to the UK, or pay up even though I shouldn't. Don't even know if I can try to claim a refund if I pay it. Frustrating. I got a text from An Post (postal service) about having to pay customs for a package. In an incredible bit of coincidence, I have been waiting for 2 things to be delivered from the same company in the UK. The first was delayed & when I contacted (the real) AnPost, they told me it was delayed at customs. I received that package the other day. The second item, I assumed would go through customs too and I knew it was due to be delivered today or tomorrow, so when I got the text, I thought it was legitimate. I am pretty stressed about something I have on later today so my brain was clearly somewhere else. I am absolute...
