An Post is the state-owned provider of postal services in the Republic of Ireland. An Post provides a "universal postal service" to all parts of the country as a member of the Universal Postal Union. Services provided include letter post, parcel service, deposit accounts, Express Post (an all-Ireland next-day delivery service), and EMS (international express-mail service). An Post, the Irish postal administration, came into being in 1984 when, under the terms of the Postal & Telecommunications Services Act of 1983, the Post Office services of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (P&T) were divided between An Post and Telecom Éireann, the telecommunications operator now called Eir. At its inception, during the early years of the Irish Free State, the Department of Posts and Telegraphs was the country's largest department of state, and its employees (most of them postmen) constituted the largest sector of the civil service.

As was extremely well documented during the whole Brexit thing, there are no customs or VAT charges on products being delivered from NI to Ireland (or vice versa). Here's what An Post, the Irish postal service, says about it: "In line with the Northern Ireland protocol, parcels arriving from Northern Ireland into the Republic of Ireland will not be subject to VAT & customs charges but must still be cleared through Irish Customs." Made my first sale, sent from Dublin to Meath with An Post, printed out the label and sent it on Monday. Normal updates since sent Monday "we have your item and will process for delivery" but last night update was "Your item is being sent internationally. We will aim to show tracking information from the receiving post, but would recommend tracking the item further on their site.". Has anyone else had this happen? Did the item get there in the end? Anyone else had this issue?2d agoMy Irish driving licence still hasn’t arrived after more than 10 working days. Honestly, it’s so frustrating. After nearly 2 years dealing with this whole process and failing the driving test twice before finally passing, now the licence itself still hasn’t arrived. I already contacted NDLS and they told me to wait until tomorrow before requesting a replacement, but I’m worried it may have been lost by An Post. Has this happened to anyone else recently?
