An Post is the state-owned provider of postal services in the Republic of Ireland. An Post provides a "universal postal service" to all parts of the country as a member of the Universal Postal Union. Services provided include letter post, parcel service, deposit accounts, Express Post (an all-Ireland next-day delivery service), and EMS (international express-mail service). An Post, the Irish postal administration, came into being in 1984 when, under the terms of the Postal & Telecommunications Services Act of 1983, the Post Office services of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (P&T) were divided between An Post and Telecom Éireann, the telecommunications operator now called Eir. At its inception, during the early years of the Irish Free State, the Department of Posts and Telegraphs was the country's largest department of state, and its employees (most of them postmen) constituted the largest sector of the civil service.

As was extremely well documented during the whole Brexit thing, there are no customs or VAT charges on products being delivered from NI to Ireland (or vice versa). Here's what An Post, the Irish postal service, says about it: "In line with the Northern Ireland protocol, parcels arriving from Northern Ireland into the Republic of Ireland will not be subject to VAT & customs charges but must still be cleared through Irish Customs." Made my first sale, sent from Dublin to Meath with An Post, printed out the label and sent it on Monday. Normal updates since sent Monday "we have your item and will process for delivery" but last night update was "Your item is being sent internationally. We will aim to show tracking information from the receiving post, but would recommend tracking the item further on their site.". Has anyone else had this happen? Did the item get there in the end? After nearly 2 years dealing with this whole process and failing the driving test twice before finally passing, now the licence itself still hasn’t arrived. I already contacted NDLS and they told me to wait until tomorrow before requesting a replacement, but I’m worried it may have been lost by An Post. Has this happened to anyone else recently? When it arrived in Ireland it was with an post for around 10 days so I inquired through their WhatsApp support chat. "This item failed to clear Irish customs due to an error on the electronic customs declaration. It cannot be delivered and must be returned to sender. This is beyond the control of An Post. Please contact the sender regarding this item." No option to pay any customs fee if there is an additional charge. No option to update the package info. Just returned. The Etsy shop has told me the courier they use don't return long distance packages like that, instead will destroy it and claim the value back throug... My question is other than pensions, is there anywhere or anyway I can put my money somewhere and just leave it? I'm very risk adverse I would much prefer to just leave my money and forget it. I have been getting flooded with emails and texts from AnPost (Irish shipping company) with a link to payment on their website, saying they will send my item back to the seller if I don’t pay by tomorrow, but wouldn’t I be paying the USPS for customs and not AnPost from Ireland? isn’t it the destination country that gets paid? Are the emails a phishing scam because they include a link to payment? Am I paranoid or just ******? The emails have my name, address, phone number and the business name and they started right after the business sent me an email saying my order was shi...
