An Post is the state-owned provider of postal services in the Republic of Ireland. An Post provides a "universal postal service" to all parts of the country as a member of the Universal Postal Union. Services provided include letter post, parcel service, deposit accounts, Express Post (an all-Ireland next-day delivery service), and EMS (international express-mail service). An Post, the Irish postal administration, came into being in 1984 when, under the terms of the Postal & Telecommunications Services Act of 1983, the Post Office services of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (P&T) were divided between An Post and Telecom Éireann, the telecommunications operator now called Eir. At its inception, during the early years of the Irish Free State, the Department of Posts and Telegraphs was the country's largest department of state, and its employees (most of them postmen) constituted the largest sector of the civil service.

Filled it with gifts for a friend over in Italy, then sent it off a the post office in Cavan town on Tuesday at 5pm. Cost €18 all in including the box. Since the delays pushed the shipment from April into July, it triggers these new rules. As you can see, TBB has confirmed they will not be reimbursing or offsetting these fees for EU customers, stating it is 'beyond their control'. I included a disassembled Lego character in the envelope with the card, Because this was my first time sending a letter abroad and I didn’t know any better, I assumed the gift inside was light enough not to make any difference and just handed it in as a normal letter to the post office. But now I’m worried that perhaps I should have filled out a CN22/CN23 form to account for the gift inside as it’s taking a long time to deliver (their birthday has already passed which is a huge bummer) I also didn’t put my address on the envelope as I didn’t want the person to know who sent it before opening the card as a sur...
